My @Home Facial Routine

I have struggled with my skin quite a bit, and to be honest my acne disappeared mostly once I went vegan but I still struggled with the texture of my skin and dryness, and those things finally improved once I started doing this weekly routine. I hope this helps some of you out there as well, you don`t need to do it all if you think it`s too much but I think there are a few tips in there you could incorporate as well. So let`s get started.

I usually try and do this in the evening when I can take my time with it and enjoy it rather than have it be an inconvenience.

I usually start with a long warm shower which will open up my pores and soften my skin for  the first step which will be exfoliation. As soon as I get out of the shower I use a mechanical exfoliant ( I use the Kiehl`s Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion Scrub 41$)I love how fine the particles are and how it doesn`t leave my skin feeling tight. You need to be extremlycarefull not to get it in your eyes,I have had this happen way to many times even when I was super carefull.Epidermal_Re_Texturizing_Micro_Dermabrasion_3700194717728_2.5fl.oz.

Once I have exfoliated the skin I move on to my tone. You will want to use a toner now to remove all traces of dead skin that might have been left after the exfoliation step. I use the Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner 18$

Next we will open up the pores again . The first option is to heat up some water ( I do it in the kettle), heat it up just to the point it starts giving off steam.  Pour the water in a bowl , hover your face over the bowl and put a towel over your head to keep the steam in, you will stay there for 5 to 10 min . Now the lazy option is to get a towel wet with some warm water, again the towel will be as warm as you feel comfortable , keep the towel on for 5-10 min or until it cools off.

The reason we open up the pores is because we are going to clean them in this next step. Use a charcoal based mask, either all over the face or if you don`t think you need it just use it in your  T-zone. I like the Kiehl`s Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque 26$  but I have seen some videos about doing a DIY activated charcoal mask that I really want to try I will put some links here and here if you want to look in to it as well.Rare_Earth_Pore_Cleansing_Masque_3605975038132_5.0fl.oz.

After I take off the detoxifying mask I move on to a hydrating mask. I have really been loving this super affordable one that I get from my local supermarket (the Skinlite Snail Skin Illuminating Multi-Step treatment) which comes with a serum as well. I also really like the Sephora Pearl Mask and the Thirsty Mud Masque  , but any hydrating or brightening mask will work. My tip if you are using a sheet mask is to put it on leave it for 3 min fold it up put some serum on and then put the mask back on. This way your serum will get deeper into your skin .

Well that was a bit complicated I know but it`s a good time to  relax and pamper yourself without breaking  the bank. I promise you will see the results as soon as the next morning and if you keep with it , you will also see an improvement in your skin overall as well.

  1. I noticed a HUGE improvement when I went vegan too! My son’s pimples cleared up after dairy was eliminated (I often heard pizza makes pimples, but it’s really the dairy). I even used to get pimples in my 50s but not anymore).

I always make sure that beauty products are not tested on animals.

  2. I realise that the flare ups can be hormonal which means that my skin care goals are to reduce inflammation as quickly as possible. That means tons of skin friendly oils after removing makeup. I swear by castor and hemp seed oil, applied in a thick layer while relaxing. My skin gets warm and my pores open which helps it work faster. I’m not a vegan so I’ve had great results with bee venom.
